Welcome to Wednesday! Also known as the day I share my current word count during Camp NaNoWriMo. It’s hard to believe next week will be my last ‘Word Count Wednesday’ until July! Reflecting on this month thus far, I just feel like April has been a rough month for writers this year. I don’t know if it’s the wonky weather, life situations, extra distractions, or maybe all of the above. I just know that I feel like I’m seeing a lot of people share their distress in staying on target with Camp this time around. I hope writers aren’t getting too discouraged, as I know they have it in them, just as I know I have it in myself to be able to achieve our goals this month. On the topic of goals, let’s cut right to the point of this post.
I am presently (as of this moment) sitting at 1,577 words out of 20,000.
Call me a broken record, but I’m still not losing hope here. I have 12 days to complete my word count goal for this month. I know with some careful planning, I can get it done. In fact, I’ve actually looked at my schedule over the next handful of days and have already plotted out key writing opportunities for myself. Granted with a low goal I do have a little wiggle room here, but I know I can do this if I just allow myself to get down to business. I need to make sure I shut down the distractions during my writing time and just focus on my work.
This time next week I plan to be at 14,000 words! Yes it’s quite a leap from where I am currently sitting, but if I write 2,000 words a day like I’m planning – I can do it!
If you are participating in camp, how is your goal coming along? Let’s chat in the comments below!
