The Liebster Award

Continuing on with this journey of blog awards today, up next is The Liebster Award. Again I found myself taking to Google to discover the origins. It seems this one first popped up back in 2011. The word “Liebster” is German with many positive meanings including sweetest, kindest, dearest, beloved, valued, and the list continues. I found a site giving “The Official Rules of the Liebster Award 2018” which not only touches on the origin of the award, but also displays many of the various forms of the award logo from over the years. I of course looked over other sites and they all basically gave the same concept. I love the idea of this award most as it seems to be made with the intention of just being purely supportive of one another in the blogging community. We can freely nominate each other and help with more discoveries to our pages. What a kind concept.

Now is the time to give my thanks again to the ever so lovely Novus for including me on her nominee list. Novus nominated me for this award on May 16th. (See how late I am with these?) I love how truly supportive Novus always is for other bloggers. I didn’t really know what the “Pool” community was until it was over. Which for those who don’t know, it’s a really awesome blogging community concept where bloggers can share their latest post and seek feedback for their sites. When the community was closing down Novus stepped up to the plate to create the blogging community called Swimmers to hopefully take its place. If you’re a blogger I highly recommend checking it out!

• Display the award on your post.

• Answer the questions given to you.
• Nominate 5-11 other blogs for this award.

• List the rules and inform your nominees of the award.

What Makes Me Passionate About Blogging?
Writing is my biggest passion, and being able to find a platform to share my journey while still doing what I love to do… yeah, I think that’s where I remain passionate about blogging. Plus, the blogging community is just awesome to be a part of.

10 Random Facts About Me
• I was born in Holland, Michigan.

Novus’ Questions For Me & My Answers

Why did you start blogging?
I started my blog because I wanted a better platform to share my self-publishing journey. Of course other things as well, but that was my initial reason. It’s still my reason; even though I feel like I’ve failed since actually opening up to really do that. However, thanks to the help of some insightful bloggers through a recent Swimmers post I feel like I know exactly how to get myself back on track to sharing this journey of mine. So I think anyone who reads this should know more actual writing posts are coming!

Which blog post is your absolute best? Please explain!
I can’t pick one yet. As mentioned in my previous post, I’m still building my blog up. If need be on narrowing it down, I’d go with any that talks about my writing.

Who inspires you?
My family and friends. I know that’s cliché, but they do.

What three things would you put in a time capsule to show people 1,000 years from now what life was like in 2018?
A smartphone loaded with the latest social media apps. I would put a picture of some sort from my area. Finally, I would put a list of the current slang words being thrown around.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
That would be between Mackinac Island (because I LOVE it there) and somewhere out of country. I’d love to see so many places…

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to completing?
My book!! I am so looking forward to completing The Untitled Horror Project and getting it published.

Do you have a pet?
Yes. I have a very spoiled cat named Sam-Sam, who is technically my mom’s cat, but he’s also my cat.

Where is your best writing spot?
That is definitely between my desk at home and the local library.

What’s your greatest success to date?
Getting over my anxiety enough to actually re-emerge into life was a huge turning point for me. I didn’t do it alone. I had to reach out and get help, but let me tell you – living life is a lot better than locking yourself up in the “four walls” of your bedroom all the time.

What advice would you give a brand-new blogger?
Just be your authentic self. Readers may not pop onto your blog overnight, but keep blogging and they will come.

I Nominate…
Beckie’s Mental Mess
Tinte – The Love of Ink
Past the Isle of Dogs
Revolutionary Musings
Fixin’ Leaks and Leeks
The Veiled Facet
Inspire Someone Today
Lucid Being
Tammy’s Reading/Writing Life
Byung A. Fallgren

My Questions for Them…
• What is the strangest thing people would find on your desk?
• How much of your day is typically spent on social media?
• What is your favorite topic to blog about and why?
• How big is your current TBR (to be read) pile?
• What sort of books do you enjoy reading the most?
• How often do you visit the beach in the summertime?
• What kind of music do you listen to the most?
• How long do you like a vacation to last for?
• What is the strangest thing you’ve ever been asked?
• How are you really doing today?

Being that this award seems to promote the discovery of other bloggers, I really wanted to dive straight into my followers list. Get the people who I wasn’t already following (sorry about that). Though I am happy to report I now am following back everyone on my nominee list. If you follow my blog and didn’t get on this list, please understand that I am still making my way into catching up with going through to check out, read, and follow back. Unfortunately, as of this being published to public I won’t have yet contacted all my nominees yet. I will be doing that ASAP though! In the meantime, if you were nominated and see this before or after I contact you; please feel free to post the link to your post in response to this nomination below. I’d love to see your answers to my questions without risking the missed opportunity on the reader.

XOXO, Jane
