NaNoWriMo 2018 Tag

With National Novel Writing Month fast approaching I thought it would be fun to do the NaNoWriMo 2018 Tag by author Natalia Leigh. I figured since it is Preptober season, it would be a great way to highlight an upcoming event and project in a fun way. So grab that cup of tea (or beverage of choice) and I hope you enjoy my answers.

How many times have you participate in NaNoWriMo? How many times have you won?
Going in this will be my third time participating in NaNo. Hopefully it will also be my third time winning, as I did manage to win the previous two years. Hoping my streak continues!

Are you a pantser or a plotter?
I have really always been more of a plantser. However the further I dive into serious novel writing I find that while I still identify as such, I am actually leaning more into plotter territory.

What are the titles of the projects that you have attempted/completed for past NaNos?
So my first year (2016) was the original Vini’s Story, which I’ve had the title before I even began writing. My second year (2017) however I used the temporarily title ‘Carousel’ for what is now Collected.

What are you working on for NaNo this year?
So as mentioned in my Preptober 2018 post. I am doing Vini’s Story again, but with a whole lot of revisions. A lot needed to change in order for me to go forward on this project.

What is one tip that you’d give to someone else that is participating in NaNo?
Pace yourself and take breaks! I know my first year I was so anxious on reaching 50,000 words that I literally used every single minute that I could to accomplish it. When I reached my goal I was so happy, but I was definitely burnt out.

What was the inspiration for this novel? Do you remember when the inspiration hit you?
It was actually towards the end of my RPG days. Vini was a loved muse and after reading a (sorry to say) poorly written autobiography, I felt kind of inspired to write her story in her words. Initially this was going to just be for RP purposes, but as I continued to write I felt the motivation to make it better and share it publicly as I found myself stepping out of the RP world. Now as I prepare to make this something I can without a doubt share and call my own while staying true to the muse, I’ve had to make a lot of changes. I am excited for the future of this story.

Read us the first sentence from your NaNo novel last year?
The original opening line, “While most ladies cringed at the thought of turning thirty, Rian Endsly had been anticipating it.”

What do you plan to do with your manuscript after NaNo?
I plan to go through the process of all the revisions, editing, and preparation for publication. This one it set to be my second published novel.

Are you prepared for NaNo? Are you nervous?
I feel pretty prepared already, but definitely am still working on preparing all of the changes that are going into this story. I’m not really feeling nervous as of yet.

Since I am unclear if any of the bloggers I am connected with are for sure doing NaNo or not, I don’t really know who to tag specifically. So I tag you all (that are participating). If you do this tag please feel free to drop your link (or just your answers) in the comment section below.

XOXO, Jane
