Sunshine Blogger Award

To my surprise I’ve recently been nominated for a blog award that is meant for bloggers who are viewed as being inspiring, positive, and creative. Thank you so much to Rachel Steve of Fictive Finesse for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I’ve literally been back in the blogosphere since the very end of March, and it never ceases to amaze me how supportive the blogging community is. Keep on reading for my answers to Rachel’s questions, as well as to see who I’m nominating and my questions for them!

Rachel’s Questions For Me

If you could meet 7 book characters, who would you want them to be?
I assure you this list will change in time, but at the moment I would pick Pamela Ravenscroft, Rachel Morgan, Jenks, Ryuk, Rem, Annie Wilkes, and Stephen Gordon. I will happily share what books they come from upon inquiries in the comments below.

Why did you start blogging and what blogging advice would you give to beginners?
I really wanted to create a better platform for me to share my writing journey on. Plus share some of my work. I am presently working on getting better with sharing more of the behind the scenes stuff. My advice for beginning bloggers would be to be authentic and find some good blogger groups to join in on. The blogosphere is actually pretty supportive for the most part.

Which is your favorite song, movie, and TV series? Web series?
Song totally depends on my mood and if one is stuck in my head. This is always changing! As far as movies go, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is #1 in my heart, along with the original A Nightmare On Elm Street movie. When it comes to television, oh gosh… at the moment that probably bounces somewhere between Supernatural and American Horror Story. I don’t have a favorite ‘web series’, but I do have some Author and Book – tubers that I frequent.

Would you rather live in eternal silence or eternal noise?
How bad is the noise? Am I allowed to wear headphones or earplugs? Really though I think to give a straight answer to this, I would have to say on either spectrum I would likely eventually end up in a locked down mental ward from going insane for having too much silence or noise.

Name one book that you would recommend everyone to read.
Ugh! This one is tricky and I’m forewarning my answer could change at a later date or mood. LOL! Right now I’m going with “Kind is the New Classy” by Candace Cameron Bure. I think it’s just a really good reminder to be kind. Yes, this book showcases a lot of Christian commentary and scripture references, but I think even those who aren’t Christians can get some insight on how better to handle various situations life and just receive that reminder to just be kinder to one another.

Write one quote that made you feel differently about life.
“You can destroy your now by worrying about tomorrow.” – Janis Joplin

What are you most afraid of?
Even though I put seed out and enjoy watching them from a comfortable distance, I have to say birds. I also really hate boats. The only time I am willing to get on a boat is to go to Mackinac Island…and quite frankly, it’s still terrifying while I’m on the boat until it’s pulled up to dock and I can get off of it.

Who is your favorite Disney character?
Maleficent and Eeyore definitely tie in the number one spot, but they are followed extremely closely by the Sanderson Sisters.

Which Harry Potter house are you in?
So I haven’t actually read the whole series yet and had no idea how to find out which house I belonged in. Fortunately a thing called google was invented, so I googled and took an online quiz! According to that quiz I belong in Ravenclaw.

What is the one thing which you’d like to improve about yourself?
My self-confidence. Let me assure you a lifetime of battling depression and anxiety can do a number on a person’s self-confidence. I truly can be my own worst enemy at times.

If you could make one award of your own then what would its name be and why?
That’s funny you ask, because I’ve actually considered creating a blogger award. I would probably do something in the realm of kindness. Bloggers who show kindness towards others type of thing. I’m not quite sure what I would call it. Kindly Minded Award comes to me, but it would probably end up given a different name if I actually pursued it.

I Nominate…
The Haunted Wordsmith
A Guy Named Bloke and K9 Doodlepip
L’Abeille Française
David Fischer
Shellie Palmer Official Site
Crushed Caramel
Lucid Being
Reflections and Life Lessons
Simsss Dairy

My Questions For Them…

  2. Thank you for nominating me!
Unfortunately, the questions are not so relevant to me right now, because I have not had time for anything in the last two months.

Also this type of post is not so very relevant for my blog (at the moment) since I only post about my creative activities… But anyway thanks for the nominating it is very nice of you! 🙂

    Have a nice week!

    1. The characters mentioned… Pamela is a vampire in the Southern Vampire Mysteries (a.k.a. Sookie Stackhouse books, a.k.a. True Blood) by Charlaine Harris. Rachel (a witch) and Jenks (a pixy) both come from Kim Harrison’s The Hollows Series. Ryuk and Rem are both Shinigami (Death Gods) from Death Note series by Tsugumi Ohba. Annie Wilkes (a crazy lady to say the least) is from Stephen King’s book ‘Misery’, and Stephen Gordon (woman) is from ‘The Well of Loneliness’ by Radclyffe Hall.

Yay! I’m glad you added it to your reading list. When you get around to it, you’ll have to tell me what you think of it.

      1. I knew some of those names sounded familiar! My sister has been bugging me for ages to read Charlaine Harris’s and Kim Harrison’s series. They are some of the books that have been on my reading list for a long time. I should tackle those soon! It’s also been ages since reading/watching Death Note, but what a good series! I’d be scared to meet Annie Wilkes though. Eek! Thanks for listing those out! And I will definitely let you know what I think of the book!

      2. You should definitely check out both series! Death Note is awesome in my opinion. Haha! I haven’t seen/read the whole series yet, but I’m happily making my way through them. Annie doesn’t scare me, I don’t write in the genre she reads. 😉

  3. Thank you Jane…very kind of you to think of me as one of your eleven. I am working all day today and the next two days…but I will definitely be preparing a post answering your questions at the weekend. I loved reading your answers to the questions you were given.
Hope you are having a great week!

  4. Rem and Ryuk!! You’ve watched Death Note! Wow!! Thats awesome! I recently completed it. I have one last question for you. L or Light? That is in terms of intelligence.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading the answers so much…I’m scared of birds too and I belong to Ravenclaw as well! Guess we have more than blogging in common now.

    1. I’ve watched most of the series (I think), but I’m on book 7 next. Part of me wants to finish the novels before I finish the animated series. Oooo…. At this point, I’m going to go with L. Who do you pick?

LOL! Darn birds follow us as we both get housed in Ravenclaw! 😉 Yes we do. ❤

      1. Oh! I didn’t know there were novels. I thought there was manga or comics or stuff. I’m so not into those. As I said I completed the series. And I, too, prefer L. L for life. Get the pun?
        Yeah, Ravenclaw!!

      2. Well they’re graphic novels, but yes novels. I don’t normally read graphic novels, but the story really has me pulled into the series. Ha! I love what you did there! ❤ Yay Team L & Ravenclaw.
