Camp NaNo Plans

As we approach the end of February, I feel like a frenzy of writers across the globe are about to hop right into pre-Camp NaNoWriMo mode. This will be that time when they pick their projects, announce them, and decide who they want to be in a cabin with. To be fair though, as crazy as it seems some of us have already been thinking of our Camp NaNoWriMo April 2019 project ideas. I for one have. Now I won’t lie, I also considered skipping NaNoWriMo’s April camp session this year so I could solely focus between Collected and Vini’s Story. Then I realized that if I stick to my plan, Collected should hopefully be in the hands of an editor in April – which would free up a bit of time. Then it hit me! I knew what I wanted to do in April.

So for quite a while now, perhaps since I first started plotting and writing Collected I’ve thought a lot about my main antagonist. Admittedly he was perhaps the first character I could really fully visualize and see in my mind. I could imagine things like his walk, his talk, his origin, and immediately his backstory. He was the first character that truly developed and shaped up for me in the creation process of this story.

Well with all that, I have clearly thought about how my antagonist of course became the way he is. What major event happened to him that turned him into what he is in my upcoming debut novel. I’ve wanted to write this short story on him for so long. It would serve as this little piece of history that would actually be a sort of prelude to Collected. It wouldn’t be his whole life, but you would catch a glimpse and you would see what led him to be what you will eventually discover him as.

Thus comes the announcement that I will be writing a short story based on my antagonist come April. Upon completion with this story my plan is to post it for free on my WattPad! Completion of course comes with being edited/polished before publishing out there, but it will be released for free reading and as mentioned already, serve as a sort of prelude to Collected.

As far as other Camp NaNoWriMo plans – like being in a cabin. Well, I’m actually considering holing up solo in my own private cabin. I’ve also considered making a private cabin if enough (or even a few) of you want to participate in one with me. I’m not terribly worried about making a final decision right this second, but I can be swayed to be cabin active if it’s with some of you.

Do you participate in Camp NaNoWriMo? Do you already have plans for it? Let me know in the comments below!
