10 Minute Writing Exercise

There are times as a writer when I go to sit down to work on a current WIP (work in progress), that I find myself having a hard time getting a start on my words. One thing that I personally find extremely helpful is the ten minute writing exercise. Basically it’s when you set a timer for ten minutes and type out your subconscious in a stream. No worries of breaks, grammar, or anything. You just focus on writing out whatever crosses your mind for a whole ten minutes. Even if what crosses your mind is a random statement of “this is really dumb, but I’m going to do it anyways to see what happens”. There is no worry of grammar, line breaks, or anything. It’s just pushing your creative self to get into a flow of writing (or typing) out words.

My Writing Process Tag

In making my plans to return to the blogosphere I told myself I wasn’t going to do any tags right away, and when I did I would limit it to maybe one or two a month. Then after one lovely day of surfing around Author-Tube I stumbled upon this awesome writer focused tag created by The Bookish Penbabe. So yeah, the plan of not doing a tag post right away went straight out the window. What appealed to me most about this tag is how in depth it is and focused on the actual writing process. Now I know, she literally named this ‘My Writing Process Tag’ – but a lot of writing tags tend to lean on a fluffier cutesy theme with a limit of roughly ten questions. Not that those aren’t fun or informative, but this one just really stood out to me. So without further ado here I suggest you grab a cup of tea (or your choice of beverage) and keep on reading for my answers!

Writing Goals of 2019

Honey I’m home! I would love to thank all of you who have been supportive and understanding to my disappearance (see previous post for why). Now this impromptu hiatus obviously lasted longer than intended, but sad to report things are still going on with my mother’s health. I am however (as you can see) making my return to the blogosphere with my writing goals of 2019. Yes, yes, I know that most people usually make these types of posts somewhere in December or January. I am not most people though and since I am just now returning at the beginning of February this is when you get my post of goals for the year. So grab a cup of tea (or your beverage of choice) and keep on reading to see what I hope to achieve as a writer this year.

Family First

Hey everyone! I am so sorry that I popped on to say I was back (kind of) and then disappear again. Life has been pretty crazy behind the scenes. My poor mom has been struggling with some health issue still. One of which involves a major infection that popped up in her leg. She has already undergone three surgeries within the past month. The third surgery was actually done this morning (yes, on Christmas Eve). We aren’t even completely out of the woods yet, the idea of her needing a fourth surgery is kind of up in the air at the moment. We are hopeful to avoid it though. Poor woman’s been through enough, but the medical team taking care of her has truly been fantastic. I am so thankful to know she is in good hands right now.
